Ready, Set, Glow: What to Expect at Your First Botox or Filler Appointment

Curious about dipping your toes into the world of Botox or dermal fillers, but not sure what actually happens during the appointment? Don’t worry—you’re not alone, and it’s definitely not as scary as it sounds. At Veve Medspa, we believe confidence is key, so we’ve created this fun, stress-free guide to help you breeze through your first visit.

1. Getting Acquainted: The Pre-Party (a.k.a. Consultation)

Let’s Chat

Think of your consultation as a friendly get-together where you tell us all about your hopes, dreams, and yes—your aesthetic goals! Our expert injectors want to know what you’re looking to achieve (smoother forehead, fuller lips, softening wrinkles, etc.) so they can tailor the perfect treatment plan for you.

Pro Tip

  • Be open about your medical history and your current skin care routine—no need to hold back. We’re here to listen, and help you glow!

  • Your injector will highlight the difference between Botox/Dysport (best for lines caused by muscle movement) and dermal fillers (perfect for adding volume and contour). Prepare for a mini crash course in “Injectables 101.”

2. Pre-Treatment Prep: The Do’s & Don’ts

Three Little Words: “Less is more.” We’ll share a few guidelines to keep things running smoothly:

  • Avoid Blood-Thinners: Aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and high-dose vitamin E can up your chances of bruising—so give them a break for about a week.

  • Skip Happy Hour (Just This Once): We get it, chardonnay with the girls is tempting, but alcohol can also increase bruising, so hold off for 24 hours before your appointment.

  • Stay Hydrated: Water is your skin’s BFF. Drink up!

  • Arrive Fresh-Faced: No worries if you forget; we’ll cleanse the treatment area. But coming in makeup-free can speed things along.

3. Showtime: The Big Moment in the Chair

The Vibe

Our atmosphere is laid-back yet upbeat—think a soothing sanctuary, not a stuffy medical office. Our injectors are masters of precision, and the actual procedure is quicker than you might think.

Step-by-Step

  1. Marking Magic: Your injector may make tiny marks or measurements to map out the perfect placement.

  2. Numbing Nicely: Some filler treatments come with built-in anesthetic, and we will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area. (Because, hey, comfort first!)

  3. Quick Pinches: Botox uses a super fine needle, so most clients only feel a small pinch. Fillers might feel like a little pressure or a tiny sting but trust us—it’s fast and done before you know it and TOTALLY worth it!

4. Post-Treatment: The “I Just Did Something Amazing for Myself” Glow

Right After

  • You may see some mild redness or small bumps—totally normal. Think of it as your skin saying, “Wow, that was fun!” These usually settle quickly.

  • Minor swelling and bruising can sometimes happen, but a cool compress and a bit of patience work wonders.

5. The Afterparty: How to Take Care of Your New Look

Keep the Glow Going

  • Hands Off: Resist the urge to rub or poke the area for about 24 hours. Your filler or Botox needs a moment to settle in, uninterrupted.

  • Gym? Go Tomorrow: Give yourself at least a day off from heavy workouts. Sweating buckets right after could increase swelling.

  • Stand Tall: For Botox, staying upright for 4 hours post-treatment helps keep the product where it’s supposed to be.

  • Hydrate & Pamper: Keep your skin happy and healthy—water, gentle skincare, and maybe a face mask or two.

  • Book a Follow-Up: Touch-ups are no big deal! We can check your progress around 2 weeks after to see if any tweaks are needed.

6. The Wait is Over: Seeing Results

Botox

  • A Few Days for Magic: You might notice subtle changes in 3–5 days.

  • Peak Performance: The real wow-factor usually kicks in around the 2-week mark.

  • Longevity: Results can last 3–4 months (sometimes longer!), then a refresher may be your next stop.

Dermal Fillers

  • Instant Gratification: You’ll see more volume right away, but give it a week or two for any swelling to go down and for the product to settle completely.

  • Keep ‘Em Guessing: Depending on the filler and area treated, your results can last 6–12 months or more.

7. Keeping It Real: Potential Side Effects

Normal: A little redness, mild bruising, and swelling are part of the deal sometimes. Less Common: Bumps, unevenness, or allergic reactions are possible but rare. What to Do: If something feels off or intensifies instead of easing up, give us a call—we are here to help!

8. Why Veve Medspa?
